| sortX and
Null characters
sortX is capable of sorting files that contain embedded null characters. Null characters are hex '00' characters. Some mainframe files are typical for containing null characters; such characters "can give unusual results" on PC systems. sortX can be set to replace all null characters with blanks in the output sorted file. This enables you to complete the sort operation with a file and have the nulls converted at the same time. |
